I asked fellow The Rabbit Hole VII: Not From Here anthology contributors to share some things about themselves prior to publication and those generous enough to do so will be appearing here for the next week or so.
Each entry gives a taste of their contribution, a little about them, how to contact them, how their story came about, and definitely a link to The Rabbit Hole VII: Not From Here (which you should purchase because it would make each and every one of us happy.
you do want to make us happy, don’t you?
i mean, considering what we wrote, you want us to know you’re a good person, right?).
And now, Maryanne Chappell’s Sibling Rivalry:
Adolph nervously played with his doll while Ava cooked dinner for them. “Come along now, time for dinner,” she said.
How the story came about:
This story was the result of a 15-minute writing challenge. When I began writing it, the only image I had in mind was of a belligerent young man with unusual habits. The doll, the character’s reactions, and the one-up-manship sprang from those images.
About Maryanne Chappell:
Maryanne Chappell dwells on the outskirts of the Jersey Pine Barrens, a space between reality and formidable horror. Her husband and four cats keep her from straying too far into the pines. She writes Magical Realism, Speculative Fiction, Fantasy, Adventure, Satirical Horror and occasionally wanders the path of dark horror when the spirit moves her. Her best work comes when she allows the images she captures in her mind to create her stories. She calls it writing in color.
She has been published in Freedom Fiction Journal, Mobius Blvd, Haunted Words Press, The Horror Zine, and now the Rabbit Hole 7 Anthology.
