Long ago and far away, I published The Solitaire Meditation. It’s a simple meditative practice which, when applied, gives the individual the ability to “sense” the future.
Boy, that sounds loaded, doesn’t it?
Well, it is and should be.
Because not lots of people are willing to put the time into practicing and meditating, which amuses the hell out of me. People completely understand the need to play the piano daily (and often several times every day) in order to play proficiently, let alone at the concert level. Ditto most musical abilities. Some may be naturally gifted singers and without constant practice all they’ll ever be is naturally gifted, not performers. I mean, does anybody really think Joe Cocker’s, Rod Stewart’s, Brad Roberts’, or Chad Kroeger’s voices are songworthy? I love their stylings, and they definitely choose songs which highlight their abilities, and none of them have naturally songworthy voices.
Back to practicing and meditating.
Some people came to me to learn more about the solitaire meditation. A few stuck with it. Granted, what I report here qualifies as a small world study, something science uses to demonstrate the experimental model is valid, meaning it provides accurate results, but small world models aren’t used for publication other than to validate the method used to produce the large world model (greater data set). Sadly, I’m seeing more and more articles published based on small world studies. Perhaps that’s why more and more scientific research becomes invalid depending on wind direction and speed).
The odds of winning any random game of Solitaire is 12.09%, or a little more than 12 times in 100 games. That’s right, winning isn’t as easy as it seems. But what about winning multiple games in a row? We’ve crunched those numbers too.
Want to win 5 games in a row? You’d have to play around 39,000 games to achieve that, based on the calculated odds. Sounds like a challenge, doesn’t it? Stick with us as we dive deeper into the fascinating world of Solitaire odds. – Solitaire.com
The above noted, people’s results are consistently over 50%. Repeated 100 game runs consistently demonstrate 70+% and in a few cases 90+% outcomes. Many people have winning streaks between 10-13 games.
Obviously, these folks will never be allowed into casinos and are risking their lives in backroom games.
Which is not the meditation’s purpose. Its purpose is to guide people away from danger and towards safety. Its purpose is to minimize risk by recognizing risk before it becomes such.
Which its done, repeatedly, and for all those who’ve practiced (examples range from avoiding bad relationships, costly financial decisions, changing vacation and travel plans and learning later there were carrier problems or their destination experienced political or natural hardship).
And all it takes is learning to listen.
To each other.
To the Earth.
To ourselves.

RoundTable 360° – Our 29 May 2025 RoundTable 360° session is Creativity: the fight against “normal” – Ever since the second half of the nineteenth century, educational institutions and the world in general has pursued the normal, that hump in the bell-curve. To what degree does this preoccupation with normality interfere with the appreciation of human potential? Is divergence from standard expectations problematic, or is it part of the wonder that makes up the human experience? Do creative differences and the pursuit of novelty make our world better?Creativity: the fight against “normal” is led by author, scriptwriter, and poet Ken Weene. Reserve your place at the RoundTable for Thursday, 29 May 2025, 1:30pmET (please check local times). |
Brother Joe Lewis’ Black Ye’ii – Joe Lewis’s tenth novel, Black Ye’ii (the Evil One) was released earlier this year and the reviews are, in Joe’s own words, super fine. The novel won a 2025 Maxy Finalist Award for Thriller/Suspense and is currently in two other competitions ending Sept. 1st.
Here’s some reviews to give you a taste: |
That Think You Do Volume 2 needs First Readers – 2025 is a year of many projects and many works-in-progress for me. One such project is getting That Think You Do Volume 2 ready for a late June 2025 release, and we could use some help with it.
Specifically, we could use some first readers willing to read it through, offer comments, suggestions, edits, let us know their thoughts, write reviews, perhaps a Foreword, perhaps some backcover copy, … Email me if you’d like to be a first reader, and thanks. |
Writers’ Month Long Workshop – JuneWriters’ Workshop – June 2025’s writers’ workshop covers many if not all phases of craft and storytelling. The May workshop is on Wednesdays, 4-25 June 2025, morning and evening openings available. Sign up here.
You can an idea of what craziness (and learning!) will ensue on my Experiments in Writing posts. |
Zen Citizen – Big congrats to Sister Vineeta Kommineni and Zen Citizen’s Marriage Registration: Gateway to Kaveri and First Gen AI Chatbot Use Case.Vineeta writes “We believe marriage registration is a strategic entry point and gateway service for citizens to start using the Kaveri portal. “Low Urgency: People are typically not in a rush and are more open to trying it themselves rather than relying on intermediaries. “Low Risk: It’s a relatively low-risk process compared to, say, sale deed registration, where mistakes can lead to serious complications at the SRO. “Opportunity for Progressive Onboarding: The process occurs earlier in a citizen’s life. If they have a smooth experience registering their marriage independently, they are more likely to return to Kaveri later as their life stage evolves. For example, when evaluating properties while planning to buy their first family home. At that point, they can use the portal to conduct due diligence by applying for an encumbrance certificate, obtaining a certified copy of a sale deed, and eventually scheduling a sale deed registration appointment with the SRO once they have selected a home.”

A Little Game – David and Graham are playing pool in Bridget’s bar, who watches as she racks glasses fresh from the dishwasher.“Who’s winning?” Dave shrugs while chalking his cue. “High scoring but no winning so far.” Graham leans over the table to line up a shot. “Our combined scores exactly equals the product of the differences between all of our ages.” Dave readies his shot. “That’s ambiguous.” “What are you, a mathematician now? Okay, let’s add that double my age plus your age comes to four times Bridget’s age minus two.” “Still ambiguous.” Bridget pours them both tall ones. “Yeah, but you could figure my age whichever possibility you choose.” Okay, folks. How old is Bridget? The first five people to get back to me with a solution get a free Those Wings Which Tire, They Have Upheld Me ebook. The first person to get back to me with a solution which makes me laugh gets a signed copy of That Th!nk You Do Volume I (and no looking it up on the internet, folks!). |
| I’m Published Here – I’m way behind submitting stories for publication this year due to taking classes. Currently I’m focusing on marketing and craft development (integrating more literary techniques and less trope techniques into my work).

That’s it for May. See you next month!
Enjoy!
