Creativity.
Who needs it? Who wants it? Who’s got it?
And most importantly, how to get it?
Some people’s greatest challenge in writing is getting something down on paper.
Or screen.
Putting into place that first word, the one word which causes all the other words to come, the leader who calls to its brother and sister verbs and nouns and objects and subjects and participles, “Come on! The paper (or screen)’s fine! Let’s go for a sentence or two, maybe a full paragraph! We can stop for lunch at the scene break and come back later!”
You may notice I don’t have that challenge “first word” challenge. Most often, I can’t stop getting something down.
The trick – if it is a trick – is to simply put anything down. Anything! What I find most often is people believing whatever comes out most be perfect or close to.
Baldersnoogies!
Here are some examples and exercises of me letting myself go.
Give it a go. You can do this.
Remember, the paper (or screen) is fine.
Think I’m onto something? Take a class with me, schedule a critique of your work, or buy me a coffee.
Think I’m an idiot? Let me know in a comment.
Either way, we’ll both learn something.
Get copies of my books because it’s a nice thing to do, you care, you can follow along, and I need the money.
