An Experiment in Writing – Part 44: What’s a ‘Flaknoc’? (revealing anything through character interactions)

This experiment comes from a question asked long ago which recently resurfaced. The question was “How do you describe future tech in your story so your reader understands what it is?”

My response comes down to

It’s as much about what they bring as what you bring – we can’t guarantee our readers are familiar with the tech and science of our stories, we can be sure they’re human (meaning “not AI” – lots of people’s comments about AI written content is its lack of emotional depth) and that’s the point of contact, of recognition, of relation.

 
And so we begin…
