How Jerry and Betty Became the Least Entertaining Couple in the Neighborhood (Part 15) – Section 8 was part of Section 6

Another busy section has been 6, which first appeared in How Jerry and Betty Became the Least Entertaining Couple in the Neighborhood (Part 13) – Section 6 Rewritten from Section 8.

No where near as busy as Section 4, and one does what on can to keep beta readers on their toes.

How Jerry and Betty Became the Least Entertaining Couple in the Neighborhood (Section 8 was part of Section 6)
Dr. Lillian Woolgrave clicked images on her screen while waiting for Betty to finish dressing. She came out from behind the privacy screen tucking in her shirt. “Well?”

Woolgrave sat back but kept her hand on the mouse. “Well, you’re right, you are pregnant.”

“You don’t sound sure.”

Woolgrave turned the monitor so both women could see the screen. It displayed a tiny fetus magnified. “I’m sure you’re pregnant.” She clicked her mouse and a green dot appeared on the image. A slide of her hand and the green dot drew a circle around one section of the fetus.

Before Woolgrave could explain, Betty titled the monitor for a better view. “What am I looking at?”

“The fact that I’m showing you your fetus and highlighted it doesn’t concern you?”

Betty stared her PCP in the face. “The fact that I called your office, said I think I’m pregnant, and it doesn’t feel right doesn’t tell you I’m concerned? I’m past concerned, Lillian. I want to know what’s going on with me, with my marriage.” She turned back to the image. “What are you showing me?”

“You mentioned that sex hasn’t been the same since Jerry returned?”

Betty’s nostrils flared slightly. “Well,” she cleared her throat as she searched for words, “he’s gentle.”

Woolgrave’s eyes widened momentarily. “Jerry, the man who’d grab you and carry you into the bedroom if you were bent over cleaning the oven?”

“He’s always been a great lover, just selfish the way most men are. Now?” She looked away and frowned. “He seems more concerned with my feelings than his.”

Woolgrave blinked. “I’m sorry, Betty. You’re concerned because you’re husband is more concerned with your pleasure than his?”

Betty cackled with nervous laughter and her body twitched as adrenaline quaked her flesh like tsunamis on an ocean.

Woolgrave reached across her desk and took Betty’s quaking hand. “Betty, what’s going on? I’ve never seen you like this.”

Adrenalitic rills twitched Betty’s body. She clenched Woolgrave’s hand tightly, closed her eyes, and took deep breaths until the waves ceased. Once controlled again, she sighed, “Guess you had to be there.” She released Woolgrave’s hand and leaned forward. “Something’s wrong. I know it sounds stupid. What do I have to do to convince you something’s wrong?”
