As much as I love The Wild, and as much as I hate conflict, I recognize part of The Wild’s concept of conflict involves predator-prey relationships.
Such relationships are most often opportunistic and necessary for species health and survival, an evolutionary thing. Few predators will take on a fully mature, healthy prey animal.
There are exceptions, of course.
Pod behavior is an example. Orca pods will hunt healthy sea-folk because of the power of the group.
Can’t say I’ve noticed this is wild felines and lupines. Perhaps they have a better sense of the energy expenditure involved in a hunt?
