Motherhood continues in The Wild and we’re glad it does. What started with Mothers, teach your children well is expanded with this entry.
We are in an abnormally hot spell as I type this. Hot and dry. We’ve been in a drought condition for about a month with no relief in sight. It reminds me of The Midnight Sun classic Twilight Zone episode. I don’t know if that episode was Serling’s wake up call re global warming and it could be. My concerns about climate began in my time in the Arctic and my work with NASA, overtly dealing with weather (ha ha). I’d read Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring and environmental concerns were greatly on my mind. My travels and work with indigenous and First Nations people solidified it.
By the way, the above is not my way of saying indigenous and First Nations folk are any better than us. The majority of them exist in modern or modern-aware societies and many have given over to modern ways, wants, and needs. Consider it like this; there’s lots of people call themselves christian, how many are truly christlike?
