And now, Robb White’s the Urbexer’s Girl:
Rory had seen enough; the competition was hammering him into oblivion. The top urban explorers like Jason Holt and Dougie Cannelli were vacuuming up followers faster than he could put out new videos. Yesterday, Jason crowed from his online site about his “fantastic 1,856 loyal followers,” whereas Doug, a Canadian with a couple hundred more on his website counter, had just finished posting about his latest mental asylum excursion from Montreal, adding his signature sign-off—a big goodbye kiss and sweep of arm. Corny but fans loved it.
How the story came about:
I read an article about a teenaged girl from the Cleveland area who fell to her death doing a dangerous stunt at the edge of an old grain elevator. This was before “urban exploring” became the popular phenomenon it is today. Around that time, I watched a YouTuber’s video of an abandoned Ford Motor Company factory. The two events just came together for the story.
