I asked fellow Legends – Monsters That Go Bump in the Night anthology contributors to share some things about themselves prior to publication and those generous enough to do so will be appearing here for the next week or so.

And now, The Legend of Trooper 666:
Tony eased his Mustang GT through the last hairpin curve on Old Farm Road and gave it gas, accelerating out. The cones of his headlights lit the guardrail to his right, shining off the orange reflectors as they whipped past. He let centrifugal force push him against the side of the seat as the speedometer went to fifty-five, sixty, then sixty-five.
How the story came about:
I was going through a serious bout of “Lead Foot Syndrome” a few years back, I had 10 points on my license, just two away from suspension. So I went out and secretly bought a good radar detector and CB radio, and once I learned to use them properly, I stopped getting tickets. When I got pulled over for something else, the deputy sat behind me for fifteen minutes and just drove off. That creeped me out more than a little, and that grew into a “What if” question. And once I have a “What if,” a story will follow.

About Chris Barili: Chris Barili has sold two novels and 21 short stories, becoming an anchor author at Wordcrafter Press. He has published in every genre except military thriller (Tom Clancy-ish stuff), and is a true hybrid author, published both transitionally and self-published. He holds a BGS in English from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing (Genre Fiction) through Western State Colorado University, graduating both Summa Cum Laude.
