I asked fellow Legends – Monsters That Go Bump in the Night anthology contributors to share some things about themselves prior to publication and those generous enough to do so will be appearing here for the next week or so.

And now, My Pumpkin Ate My Wife:
A dish flew at his head, shattering on the kitchen backsplash. Reginald installed that backsplash. He searched for two years to find the perfect historical tiles to match the kitchen accents. Every morning while brewing coffee, that backsplash brought a smile to his tired cheeks. It gave him hope that some people in this world cared about history. Now Verma, his soon-to-be-Ex-wife, was attempting to destroy it.
“You chipped the backsplash!” Reginald shouted.
“If you’d stop ducking, I wouldn’t hit your precious backsplash.”
“I hate your mother’s dishes as much as you do, but—”
“These are your mother’s dishes!” Verma shouted, throwing a well-aimed saucer like a frisbee.
How the story came about:
My best friend’s neighborhood in north San Diego goes crazy during Halloween. Nearly every house has an elaborate display. I always imagined the decorations coming to life. Then I transplanted that to the beautiful historic neighborhood of Pasadena, where I used to live, and threw in a very emotionally abused rocket scientist.
