I wrote in about The Wild‘s tendency towards conflict avoidance in The Return of Scully.
Ever notice when you’re aware of something, it’s everywhere? You’re interested in a new car and all of a sudden that’s all you see on the road. You hear about a new restaurant and you see ads for it everywhere.
You take an interest in someone and they show up everywhere you go.
That’s how stalking gets started, you know, by you noticing someone you never noticed before and assigning them your interests and motivations.
I jest.

What’s happening is called The Baader-Meinhof phenomenon and more plainly the frequency illusion. It’s a byproduct of selective attention and the opposite of situational awareness.
Yeah, I study too much.

You’ll need to get my attention if you want me to do it.
