Be Cool, Clarence

Our visitors from The Wild are varied.

We get all manner of life. Bear to deer to fox, wolf, coyote, turkey, hawk, hummingbird, hummingbird moth.

We haven’t had skunk in a while.

Not an issue.

Years ago Larry, a young juvenile who hadn’t mastered scent control yet, and Ferdinand, a grand old gent with a white band broad enough to land a cesna on.

They passed, as does everything, even Mountain and Ocean, Star and Universe itself, given enough time.

One wonders, considering things as a kind of hierarchy, who lasts longer than time. Or who created time.

Some philosophers – even some cosmologists – consider Time to be a human invention.

Bah.

I’ve met Time, had many enjoyable conversations with it. I tell it what philosophers and cosmologists say and it laughs.

Ever felt a ripple in time?

That’s Time laughing.

Enjoy.

Three Young Ones

Behold three young raccoon kits.

Whenever we see young of The Wild without adult supervision we grow concerned.

Children are a challenge to the best of us. More so in The Wild, me thinks. We have many predators in our woods and we understand evolutionary cycles and principles.

Still…

He’s a Two-Legger, but he’s okay. Don’t let him touch you, though. You don’t know where his hands have been.

Mother Raccoons we’ve fed all along are watchful of their kits around us. They tell them to stay in the trees until they see Mom interacting with us. She shows them the rules then lets them approach. As I’ve written before, you can almost hear, “He’s a Two-Legger, but he’s okay. Don’t let him touch you, though. You don’t know where his hands have been.”

Enjoy.

Bees at the Bar

You’ve heard about busy bees, no doubt.

Anybody ever told you about the lazy bees?

These are worker bees who’ve decided to hell with all that pollen gathering and dancing and waxing and such, we’re going out for a good drunk!

They’re normally quite friendly.

Until someone touches their watering hole…I mean, birdfeeder.

Hummingbird feeder, to be exact.

Not only loiterous, also usurping.

Or slurping.

Congratulations to Good Mother Hyacinthe

It isn’t easy raising kids, human or Wild, doesn’t matter. These days, parenting is tough.

Makes me glad Susan and I opted out.

Not so Hyacinthe.

She’s such a good mother. Raised five kits to juvenality on her own.

Okay, we contributed somewhat, good aunt and uncle that we are.

Still, raising five healthy kits with all the predators around…pretty amazing.

So take a moment. Congratulate her. Or appreciate her.

They don’t live long, you know.

Have you ever wondered who says that about us, humans? “They don’t live long, you know.”

Maybe mountains? Oceans? Continents? Rivers? Clouds?

I hope they’re good aunts and uncles to us, don’t you?

And if it’s mountains and oceans and continents and rivers and clouds and icesheets and such, let’s spend some time being good to them.

I mean, we’re suppose to be sentient, right? Might be nice to give a little return for all they’ve given us, don’t you think?

Huh?

Thankful Turkeys Celebrate – Turkey Day of Infamy 2020 (is past)

Much like we did Safe for Another Year and celebrated in the original Thankful Turkeys Celebrate – Turkey Day of Infamy 2018, we celebrate Turkeys living past another Turkey Day of Infamy, this time last year’s 2020 (we wait until the holidays are over and we know they’re safe), and what a year it was, huh?

Talk about a year!

A complete, freakin’ ignorant moron baboon…no, that’s not fair. I’m insulting baboons and have no reason to…is out of office. I still shake my head in disbelief he got in. But then I remember that the United States has a representational government and people vote for candidates they believe most embrace their ideals and who will execute their wishes.

So four years ago US citizens wanted to build a wall separating us from Mexico? Or alienate most of the foreign nations on the planet? Or insult fellow citizens based on ethnicity? Or call dead soldiers losers? Or be repeatedly told lies? Or have the rich shown favoritism?

Sorry, what the f?ck were voters thinking?

Ah, but now, it seems, we’re on a path to recovery.

May it be a long one.

And COVID? Hey, we took care of one catastrophe at least.

I’d like to see a few more Turkey celebrations, wouldn’t you?
