Search – Friday, 28 September 73

A triple murder in 1973 Maine starts a search for evil that ends with a discovery of one’s destiny

I mentioned being asked to write some kind of murder mystery/detective/profiler and that I’d been doing just that. The work-in-progress, Search, is fact-based. Here’s the first chapter. Let me know what you think.

Grandfather Wolfe sat in the upper right corner of the auditorium listening to his nephew, Isaac Many Deer, talking to the cenhepé about things they could never understand. He’d come in late and planned on sleeping anyway so he didn’t take off his black AIM jacket or cowboy hat except to wave it at Isaac as he sat down.

He stretched out, legs crossed in front of him, the rough feel of freshly washed Wranglers scratching a little, his fingers gently intertwined and his hands resting across his stomach, his thumbs tapping his red on gray flannel shirt, wondering why college auditorium seats were so unaccommodating to old bones.

He didn’t hear the preacher’s question and half heard Isaac’s answer, “What kind of test did you have in mind?”

Wolfe smiled. That’s it, nephew. Piss them off early and often.

It seemed the preacher mumbled while Isaac spoke plainly, clearly. Perhaps he was more familiar with his nephew’s voice.

Wolfe’s nose twitched. Isaac looked over. “I’m familiar with the Old Testament’s test of a true prophet, yes.”

His nose twitched again.

Wolfe nodded at his nephew. His thumbs drummed a Nowiy’o Pe, a war song, on his shirt. The hairs bristled on the back of his neck. Isaac returned his nod; he felt it, too.

Somebody in the auditorium was hunting.

A.N. Mouse – Caustic Knights, Hunting Nightmares, Violent CEOs, Necromancers, and Unfortunate Alchemists

This border hopping Indie Author is a fan of WADsworth

A.N. MouseHello all and welcome to our last author interview for 2018. It’s been fascinating and full of learnings for me, so thanks to all who took part.

The first thing you need to know is that A.N. is an amazingly patient individual who graciously sat through three intro takes because I kept botching things.

And there’s still of few goobies in there. It’s me, folks, all me.

I’d like everyone to stand up and give A.N. Mouse a big round of applause for taking part in our exciting adventure.

Rosemarie Aquilina – Can you do something rooty with my bedhead, Your Honor?

Would you like a perm with that adjudication?

Rosemarie AquilinaHello all and welcome to our continuing series of author interviews. Today’s guest is multi-facted and multi-genre author Rosemarie Aquilina.

Rosemarie is probably best known for her ruthless pursuit of justice as crusading superhero…No, wait…She does have a career that she’s (probably) better known for and she does pursue justice and she is a crusader. Okay, we’ll go with superhero, too. Rosemarie may be better known as Your Honor.

The Honorable Rosemarie Aquilina is the mother of five children, is currently a 30th Circuit Court Judge serving in Michigan’s General Trial Division and served as a 55th District Court Judge in Mason, Michigan. In 1986, Rosemarie Aquilina became the first female JAG Officer in the history of the Michigan Army National Guard and retired in 2006 with twenty years Honorable Military Service. She is an adjunct law professor at both Western Michigan University’s Thomas M. Cooley Law School and Michigan State University College of Law and has earned teaching awards at both. She owned her own law firm and hosted the a syndicated “Ask the Family Lawyer” radio talk show.

She’s currently working on some non-fiction titles before plunging ahead with more cozies and thrillers. I’d like everyone to stand up and give Rosemarie Aquilina a big round of applause for taking part in our exciting adventure.

The Gander Gets Goosed – Clancy Tucker Interviews Me!

Charles Breakfield & Rox Burkey – Is that a Thermonuclear Killer AI Virus in Your Pocket or Are You Happy to See me?

How can two such sweet, endearing people write world threatening fiction (and make it look easy)?

Tech Thriller Authors Charles Breakfield and Rox BurkeyWelcome one and all to another Northern Lights Books’ author interview plunge. Today’s guests are an enigma.

Not really, they write about enigmas. Specifically, the Enigma TechnoThriller series (there are nine books in the series as we publish this interview in early July 2018).

Known as Breakfield and Burkey, Charles Breakfield and Rox Burkey have known each other professionally and as friends for mumbledy-mumbledy years. About mumbledy years ago they realized both enjoyed writing beyond their work-a-day requirements and decided to collaborate on things they knew from work. Rox specializes in corporate communications and Charles specializes in security, communications technology and anything with bits and bytes. Their work takes them across the globe and involves them in high level discussions most of us wouldn’t understand. Fortunately, they remove the unnecessary technospeak from their novels and leave in the thriller parts. Good stuff, that!
